Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Alan M. Shira, son of Brenda McKinney of San Antonio, and Craig Shira, of Bishop, recently completed Naval Nuclear Power Training Pipeline.

During the course with Nuclear Power Training Unit, Ballston Spa, N.Y., Shira received instruction about nuclear theory, chemistry, physics, reactor operations, safety and security. Upon completion of the course, Shira qualified as a Naval nuclear operator.

Shira is a 2008 graduate of H.M. King High School, and joined the Navy in November 2008.
