Kenedy County Wide CSD accepting nominations for Gifted and Talented Program

The Kenedy County Wide Consolidated School District will be accepting nominations from parents, teachers and/or students for the Gifted and Talented Program for grades first through sixth.

All kindergarten students will be tested each spring for the Gifted and Talented Program.

“Gifted and talented student” means a child or youth who performs at or shows the potential for performing at a remarkably high level of accomplishment when compared to others of the same age, experience, or environment and who exhibits high performance capability in an intellectual, creative, or artistic area, possesses an unusual capacity for leadership, or excels in a specific academic field. Education Code 29.121

Kindergarten through sixth grade students who qualify will receive G/T services through content differentiation in the four core areas: Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies.

Nominations will be accepted through April 9, 2010.

Nomination forms for first through sixth grade may be picked up in the principal’s office.
