Next A&M-Kingsville astronomy public viewing to highlight elements of winter sky

Classic elements of the night winter sky, including the Great Nebula in Orion, Betelgeuse and Hinds Crimson Star, will be the focus of the second public viewing of the semester at the Texas A&M University-Kingsville observatory.

The viewing begins at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 11, at the university’s 16-inch telescope in Lon C. Hill Hall. In the event of cloudy or rainy weather, an alternative presentation, including a tour of the university’s telescope, will be available.

Parking is available behind the Memorial Student Union Building, on the corner of Santa Gertrudis Avenue and University Boulevard.

Hill Hall is the aluminum-domed building adjacent to the parking lot.
