BRAHMAS AND FORD TAG TEAM TEST DRIVE

Eddie Yaklin Ford along with Kingsville Independent School District’s music and athletic departments will be hosting Drive- One-for-Your-School in front of H.M. King High School from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 6. Ford is donating a total of $20 per test drive to both departments; $10 for the athletic department and $10 for the band.

POWERLIFTING

H.M. King High School’s powerlifting team had a pair of competitors place in the top five at a meet in Gregory Portland last weekend. Nathan Westbrook won the 220 lb. division by hoisting a total combined weight (in the bench press, dead lift and squat maneuvers) of 1,425. Monica Chavez finished fourth in the 198 lb. class with an accumulated mark of 525.

GIRLS SOCCER

The Lady Brahma varsity soccer team (8-3-2 overall and 5-0-1 in District 60-4A) shutdown Robstown 10-0 on Tuesday. Vonique Rodriguez, Samantha Reyes and Andrea Garcia each scored two goals. Also scoring were Hayley Etheridge, Rebecca Campos, Larissa Quintanilla, and Niki Arevalo.

H.M. King’s varsity team defeated Alice 5-1 on February 19. Etheridge scored twice. Also contributing goals were Rodriguez, Bianca Cordero, and Shelby Purdy.

The Lady Brahma junior varsity team (10-2 overall, 4-0 in district) bested Alice 2-1. Amanda Cavazos and Rosie Gonzalez scored goals for H.M. King.

BOOSTER CLUB

The Brahma Athletic Booster Club is holding a meeting at H.M. King High School’s athletic office at 6 p.m. on Monday.

UPCOMING GAMES

H.M. King High School’s varsity tennis team competes at a tournament in McAllen on Friday and Saturday. Memorial Middle School’s tennis team visits Alice at 4 p.m. on Thursday, and then visits Flour Bluff at 8 a.m. on Saturday.

The Lady Brahma varsity and junior varsity soccer teams host Laredo LBJ at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. on Saturday.

H.M. King High School’s varsity boys soccer team visits Laredo LBJ at 6 p.m. on Monday.

The Brahma varsity and junior varsity boys and girls track teams compete at the Hub City Relays in Alice on Saturday. Memorial Middle School’s boys and girls track teams compete against Flour Bluff, Tuloso-Midway and Alice (in Alice) on Thursday.

H.M. King High School’s varsity baseball team competes at the Mira’s Classic tournament Thursday through Saturday. The Brahma junior varsity baseball team hosts a tournament Thursday through Saturday.

The Lady Brahma varsity and junior varsity softball teams visit Laredo Cigarroa at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Monday. The varsity softball team competes at the Mira’s Classic in Corpus Christi Thursday through Saturday.
