LADY BRAHMAS IN FIRST PLACE

H.M. King High School’s varsity girls soccer team settled into the driver’s seat in District 31-4A after defeating Laredo Nixon 4-2 this past Tuesday. The Lady Bulls were tied for first place with the Mustangs before the game and are now two points ahead of Laredo LBJ in the 31-4A standings.

Kelly Ryan booted in two goals, Hayley Etheridge scored once and Vonique Rodriguez added another. Headed into their game against Alice this past Friday, the Lady Brahma varsity squad was 3-0-1 in district and 6-3-2 overall.

“We are playing very well as the girls are all focused and playing the best they have all year”, Head Coach Wayland Sanders said. “We’re doing good, if we can keep it up and win out we should be fine.”

The Lady Brahma j.v. squad (8-2 overall) kept its district record unblemished at 3-0 after edging Nixon 2-1. Rosie Gonzalez scored the first goal with an assist from Amanda Cavazos; who kicked in the second goal.

“I am very impressed with our j.v. team,” Sanders said. “They are passing the ball and know the game a lot more than I expected. There are a lot of girls on that team who are in their first year playing soccer and they have picked up on it so well, we have a very bright future.”

The Lady Brahma varsity soccer teams hosts Robstown at 6 p.m. on Tuesday. The varsity and junior varsity girls soccer teams visit Laredo Cigarroa at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

SEAHAWKS

Riviera-Kaufer High School’s varsity baseball team hosts Banquete at 6 p.m. on Monday.

The Lady Seahawk varsity and junior varsity softball teams host Ben Bolt-Palito Blanco at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Tuesday. The varsity softball team competes at a tournament in Alice Thursday through Saturday.

Riviera-Kaufer High School’s boys and girls track teams compete in Kingsville on Saturday. De la Paz Middle School’s boys and girls track teams compete at Hebbronville on Friday.

Riviera-Kaufer High School’s boys powerlifting team competes in Kingsville on Saturday.

The Lady Seahawk golf team competes against Bishop at the municipal golf course in Alice at 9 a.m. on Thursday.

BADGERS

Bishop High School’s varsity and junior varsity baseball teams host Skidmore- Tynan at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The varsity team competes at a tournament hosted in Odem Thursday through Saturday.

The Lady Badgers varsity softball team visits Calallen on Tuesday and then competes at a tournament in Alice this Thursday through Saturday.

BRAHMAS

H.M. King High School’s varsity tennis team competes at the Spring Fling to be held in Corpus Christi this Friday and Saturday. Memorial Middle School’s tennis team competes at a tournament in Tuloso-Midway on Saturday.

H.M. King High School’s varsity boys and girls and junior varsity boys golf teams compete against Gregory- Portland at the North Shore course in Corpus Christi on Tuesday.

H.M. King High School’s varsity boys soccer team visits Robstown at 6 p.m. on Tuesday and then hosts Laredo Cigarroa at 6 p.m. on Friday.

H.M. King High School’s boys powerlifting team hosts the Brahma Bash in Gym I on Saturday.

The Brahma varsity and junior varsity boys and girls track teams compete at the Javelina Relays at Texas A&M University-Kingsville this Saturday.

H.M. King High School’s varsity and junior varsity baseball teams visit Incarnate Word Academy at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The freshman baseball team visits Robstown at 5 p.m. on Tuesday. The Brahma varsity baseball team competes at a tournament hosted in Robstown this Thursday through Saturday. H.M. King’s freshman baseball team competes at a tournament in Alice Thursday through Saturday.

The Lady Brahma varsity and junior varsity softball teams host Corpus Christi King at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The varsity and junior varsity softball teams host Sinton at 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Friday. H.M. King’s junior varsity softball team will also compete in a tournament hosted in Corpus Christi this Thursday through Saturday.
