A clarification has been made concerning a story “Junior high coach guilty of molesting a child here,” that appeared in Sunday’s newspaper.

The educator involved worked at a private religious school according to Kleberg Kenedy District Attorney John Hubert.

“He is no longer teaching and has not been teaching for months,” he said.

“He is in no way associated with the Kingsville Independent School District,” Hubert said.

Jesus Gutierrez, 46, plead guilty to two counts of the second-degree felony, indecency with a child by touching and received eight years probation. As a condition of the probation, Gutierrez received 90 days in jail. Gutierrez, who plead guilty last week, will be required to register as a sex offender during the time of his probation and for 10 years after it concludes.

Gutierrez worked as a coach at the private religious school here (Kingsville) and began a relationship with one of his students under 15 years of age.
