Talk radio show host to speak at TAMUK

Bob Jones Bob Jones The Kleberg County Republican Women will sponsor a banquet, which will include the well-known talk radio show host, Bob Jones, as the featured speaker on Feb. 16 at the TAMUK MSUB Room 219.

A “Meet and Greet” will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. during which time attendees can meet the candidates for both the local and state races for the 2010 Republican primary election; this will be followed by the banquet featuring smoked brisket, barbeque chicken and more.

Tickets are currently being sold for $20 and can be purchased from any member of the Kleberg County Republican Women.

Robert “Bob” Jones was the host of the number one talk radio show in the Coastal Bend, “The KEYS Morning Show,” broadcast on 1440 KEYS for over four years, and currently he can be heard on KCTA 1030 AM Monday through Friday from 2 to 3:30 p.m.

Jones has conducted on-air interviews with national figures including Ann Coulter, Susan Estrich, NPR’s Juan Williams, comedian Bill Cosby, U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft, Iraqi Air Force General Georges Sada, presidential candidates Pat Buchanan, Hillary Rodham Clinton, and many other national and international figures as well as local business, civic, and political leaders.

Jones is an ordained Elder and Pastor of the Messianic Fellowship Church of Corpus Christi (Apostolic).

He has been a local pastor since 1991 and travels extensively as a theologian throughout the United States, West Africa, the Caribbean, Pakistan, France and Israel and is currently scheduling travels in South Africa, China, the Philippines and Japan.

Currently the church is completing a “Faith Based Affordable Housing Initiative” that consists of new construction of 32 apartments on two acres of land belonging to the Church.

The church fellowship hall has been converted to classrooms and in January 2009 they officially opened the Redemption Christian Academy Corpus Christi Preschool to serve the needs of children in the community.

Jones has also been given the honor of having the former Alameda Street bridge (crossing IH-37) renamed the Jones-Linton Pedestrian Archway in his honor along with his good friend Gordon Linton, the third top transportation official in the Clinton Administration.

Jones is a graduate of Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and served in the U.S. Army Military Advisory Command (MAC-V) in Vietnam and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) in Italy.

He is married and is the proud father of two daughters and grandfather of two grandsons.
