Frank Henry Wilson, II, 87, of Kingsville, died Jan. 23, 2010, from Alzheimer disease.

He was born Aug. 18, 1922, in Detroit, Mich., to Frank Henry Wilson, Sr. and Genevieve Gordon Wilson.

Wilson graduated from the University of Detroit High School and attended the University of Notre Dame from 1941 thru 1943.

He was commissioned an Ensign in the United States Navy in 1943 and stationed in the Philippines during WWII.

Wilson returned to the U.S. after the end of the war and graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1946.

Still a member of the Naval Reserves, he was called back up for active duty during the Korean War.

He was sent to Corpus Christi in 1951 to become the Officer in charge of the officers’ mess or “Mess Treasurer” at Naval Air Station.

In 1952, he met Lieutenant Elizabeth McDaniel from Beaufort, S.C.

They married on Valentine’s Day 1953. The couple made their home in Corpus Christi and later move to Portland with their four children. Wilson left the Navy in 1953. He worked for many years as a stock broker and then in the insurance business.

Frank and Elizabeth were married for 51 years until her death in August 2004.

He moved to Kingsville in 2007 to live with his youngest daughter Sandra and her family. He spent the last year and a half of his life living at Kleberg County Nursing Home battling Alzheimer disease.

Survivors include his four children: Liz (Cary) Riggle of Corpus Christi, Hope Wilson of Austin, Sandra (Randy) Maltby of Kingsville, and Frank H. Wilson III (Janel) of Robstown; nine grandchildren; one greatgrandson; his brother-in-law Olin (Eunice) McDaniel of Florence, S.C.

Limbaugh Funeral Home in Portland was in charge of the arrangements.
