St. Gertrude’s School holds book drive for Robert J. Kleberg Public Library
Marcy Cavazos’ second grade class display their books for the library.
Danielle Friend, Children’s Librarian at the Robert J. Kleberg Public Library, put out a community wide request for donations of new and used books for the children’s section at the library and the Friends of the Library Bookstore recently.
The students at Saint Gertrude’s School heard that request and responded.
In celebration of National Young Reader’s Week in November, Marcy Cavazos’ second grade class and Ms. Aguilar’s Pre-K4 class conducted a book drive for the library.
The two classes collected approximately 100 new and used books and magazines which were presented to Robert Rodriguez, Library Director, and Danielle Friend.
Some of the older books will be put into the Friends of the Library Bookstore located inside the library and then some books will be put into circulation for the library.
Danielle Friend, Children’s Librarian, and Robert Rodriguez, Library Director, look over the books donated by Saint Gertrude’s students.
To show appreciation of their efforts, the Friends of the Library gave each student in the two classes a book geared to their reading level.
Ms. Aguilar’s Pre-K4 class shows some of the books they collected for Kleberg Library.
