Oscar Esparza
Our beloved Oscar Esparza, born on April 18, 1970, joined our Lord Jesus Christ on Sunday, January 10, 2010.
He was originally from Driscoll, Tx and graduated from Bishop High School. Oscar was a devoted husband, father and school teacher. He lived life as if every day was his last. He cherished every sunset and had a passion for hunting at the ranch and playing on the beach with his kids. Oscar’s faith in the Lord was unimaginable, which kept us all together through rough times. Fear not for I am with you (Isaiah 41:10). His other passions included teaching mathematics and coaching at Incarnate Word Academy Middle Level. Oscar worked in the teaching profession for the past fifteen years while simultaneously attending night school to pursue his bachelor’s and master’s degrees. He graduated from Texas A & M University – Corpus Christi in December 2007 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics. Shortly before his untimely death, Oscar had just received a Master of Science degree in Education at the Fall 2009 commencement in addition to beginning studies towards a Ph. D at Texas A & M University – Corpus Christi.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Israel Esparza, Sr. (his best friend and companion) paternal grandmother Manuela Esparza, maternal grandparents Nicolas and Petra Hernandez and a very special cousin Jimmy Green.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories his wife; Laura Ann Amador Esparza; their children Teresa Ann Esparza and Oscar Antonio Esparza. His parents Israel Esparza, Jr. and Idolina Esparza, three brothers, Israel Esparza, III, Pedro “Peter” Esparza (Jennifer), and Ramiro Esparza, two sisters, Oralia Esparza and Christina Ortiz (Roger), his mother in law Dolores Amador and brothers in law Phillip Amador, Jr. (Leah) & Stephen Amador (Gabrielle). Oscar is also survived by all of his beloved uncles, aunts, cousins, numerous close friends and all of his precious students at Incarnate Word Academy.
A Rosary will be held Friday, January 15, 2010 at 7:30 p.m. at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church on Saratoga.
Funeral mass will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church. Entombment will follow with a procession to the Reid Chapel at Seaside Memorial Park.
Honorary pallbearers will be Israel Esparza, III, Pedro Esparza, Ramiro Esparza, Robert Esparza, Jr., Brian Wilson and Robert Martinez.
