Letter to the Editor
I tried to get help from the former so-called Veterans Service Officer on several occasions and he never had time for me. He was either in some sort of training or out of the office.
I finally decided to go to the Corpus Christi Veterans Center and got help. It took the DAV service officer less than an hour to fill out my papers and I went on my way. Mr. Tomas Sanchez didn’t want to fill out the forms for me.
I also wonder what kind of Veterans Service Officer would leave a homeless veteran live in a tent west of the city — especially during the snow storm of 2004. Mr. Tomas Sanchez should have contacted the local veterans organizations about this situation. That same homeless veteran was helped by Mr. Arturo Pecos and others.
The homeless veteran was eventually compensated by the VA. I am glad Mr. Sanchez is finally gone because it appeared he only wanted to help a select few. I honestly have nothing good to say about Mr. Tomas Sanchez, and I think that he should apologize for the awful way he treats so many veterans.
