Harriet Isabel Daehn
Harriet Isabel Daehn, 88, of Kingsville, died Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009 in Corpus Christi.
She was born on Sept. 28, 1921 in Bath, Maine to Percy Plant and Agnes Smith Plant. In her early years, she worked for Bath Iron Works, a shipyard company. She was an auxiliary member of DAV, VFW and American Legion. In a ceremony at the Audie Murphy V.A. Hospital in San Antonio, she was presented a Voluntary Service Certificate by the Department of Veterans Affairs in appreciation of 3,714 hours and 23 years of volunteer service to veterans through dedicated participation in the Voluntary Service Program.
Daehn was a recognized supporter of veterans who served in the U.S. Armed Forces and always was present when military honors were rendered to veterans of Kleberg County and surrounding areas.
She is survived by her husband, Robert John Daehn Sr. of Kingsville; four sons, William John Daehn II of Kingsville, Robert John Daehn Jr. of Aransas Pass, Emmett G. Daehn and Edward Norman Daehn, both of Sulphur Springs; sister, Hazel King of Bath, Maine; 15 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
A patriotic memorial service in honor of Daehn will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 31, 2009 at Turcotte- Piper Mortuary Chapel with chaplain Mark L. Haley officiating.
