So what are your top 2009 sports moments
A little more than a week remains before 2009 is completely written in the history books.
And what a year it has been! Everything from state champs, to state contenders, teams that surprised us and moments we all probably would like to forget that took place in this paper’s readership.
So far here is a rough draft of my top 12.
1. Lady Brahmas basketball team breaks district jinx.
2. Homer Fonseca wins Texas boxing title.
3. Lady Brahmas softball team ALMOST reach state.
4. Seahawks football team advances into the playoffs.
5. Bishop powerlifters win state.
6. Pan-Am wins third consecutive state soccer title.
7. Brahma mixed doubles tennis duo forced to wait.
8. Little League’s big problem.
9. Brahma marching band shushed.
10. Yellowjackets football team win district.
11. Academy football team wins its first varsity game.
12. Soda pop all-stars.
So here is what I am asking ya’ll to do. Take this list and rank the twelve sports happenings and send it back to me via e-mail (rataman2@yahoo. com).
Make sure your first and last name are in your e-mail. If you feel I have missed any significant 2009 sports happening, please feel free to bring it to my attention; I do not guarantee that it will be added - sorry glee club chess tournament - but I will consider them all nonetheless.
Now here is what I am going to do. I will rank each event based on the number of firstto last place votes they receive and present them accordingly when I flesh out my ‘Best of 2009’ story for next week’s Wednesday or Sunday paper.
I will accept your rankings until Monday Dec. 28, at which time I will tabulate them.
Vote only once please and I prefer you send me your rankings in the body of an e-mail instead of as an attachment.
Keep in mind that this is just for fun.
I am not showing up to anyone’s house with a check for a million dollars or a brand new car.
I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Keep family first because no amount of success compensates for failure at home.
