Jennifer Silva announces candidacy

Jennifer Whittington Silva has announced her candidacy for Kleberg County District Clerk in the 2010 March Democratic primary.
Silva said she believes her experience and knowledge acquired while working with the Kleberg County District Clerk’s office, the Kleberg County Clerk’s office, and currently working as a district attorney legal assistant will be beneficial to the citizens of Kleberg County.
“I would like to transition all experience and knowledge I have gained within the three offices and use them to benefit the people of Kleberg County and look forward to being able to serve the community to the best of my ability,” she said.
“My work experience within the courthouse has given me the confidence and leadership skills to run a successful office from the start,” Silva said.
“I seek this post because I believe I have the qualifications to become the next district clerk,” she said.
The past six years, she works as a legal assistant for ney, now held by District Attorney John Hubert.
She is a current member of the Texas District and County Attorney’s Association.
She began working in the county clerk’s office in 1999 where she was employed for two years.
From there, she worked two years in the district clerk’s office with Martha Soliz.
She praised Soliz for her success as a District Clerk.
“I would like to be as successful a District Clerk as Mrs. Soliz,” Silva said.
She is married to Kingsville native, Omar Silva, and the couple has three children.
Silva graduated from H.M. King High School in 1994 and attended Texas A&M University for two years.
Silva was born and raised in Kingsville. Her parents are Wayne and JoyBeth Whittington, who live here. She is the youngest of four siblings. Her older brothers are Josh and Cameron Whittington and her sister is Lauri Whittington.
“I am asking the voters of Kleberg County to make the right choice, the choice of experience, and vote for Jennifer Whittington Silva for your District Clerk,” she said.
