Roberto Gutierrez to seek Pct. 3 JP post
Roberto R. Gutierrez Roberto R. Gutierrez has announced his candidacy for Nueces County justice of the peace, Precinct 3, for the March 2010 primary election.
Gutierrez, a lifelong resident of Bishop and Precinct 3, is currently the Driscoll municipal judge and just completed a required 32-hour class for Municipal Judges.
“When I retired in 2004, I had served 27 1/2 years in law enforcement with 24 of those years as the elected constable of Precinct 3,” Gutierrez said.
“After being approached by many concerned citizens and friends asking me to run for office, I decided to come out of retirement and run for the office of justice of the peace, Precinct 3.”
Gutierrez is a graduate of Bishop High School and attended Texas A&I University-Kingsville. He worked with Robstown ISD in education for seven years and worked with West Oso ISD in public relations for five years.
“I am a Texas State Justice of the Peace and Constable Association Lifetime Member, and I am a certified peace officer with a Masters Peace Officer Certificate,” Gutierrez said.
Gutierrez has been involved in many organizations over the years such as the Bishop Noon Lions, Bishop Chamber of Commerce, Bishop United Fund, and Bishop Brown Bag.
Gutierrez has also served many volunteer hours at the information center and the Depo museum and is a member of St. James Catholic Church in Bishop and member of the Kingsville St. Martin’s Mutualistas.
“I have worked with the citizens of Precinct 3 on a one to one basis for most of my life. They know they can trust me to serve them with honesty and integrity as I have always done in the past.” Gutierrez said.
“I think I have the qualifications and capacity to do the best job as your Justice of the Peace for Precinct 3. “
