Bishop citizens show generosity

Editor:

On behalf of the Guajardo and Mechell family, they’d like to extend their sincere gratitude and appreciation to all Bishop Citizens and surrounding areas for the contributions and support given to The Guajardo Family in their time of crisis.

We never know when we could be on the other side of that coin.

I am proud to say that in October 1970, my parents Eulogio and Gregoria Reyna were also faced with a similar situation.

I was diagnosed with a life threatening heart murmur at the age of 7 and the only alternative was emergency surgery to save my life.

My parents, living a humble lifestyle, were devastated with the news and facing the impossibility of coming up with thousands of dollars for the surgery was even a greater catastrophe.

Mr. Guajardo, Rudy’s dad and Mr. Mechell, Ruby’s dad were the frontline men who came to our rescue.

They also did what all of you have done for this family in a matter of days.

The funds miraculously, with our Lord’s blessing, were gathered and the surgery was scheduled.

But, unfortunately another crisis arose in that I needed at least 21 pints of blood before the surgery could take place within 48 hours.

Mr. Guajardo and Mr. Mechell came to our aide again and lined up over a hundred men and women who worked at the Celanese Plant, as it was known back in the day, and received over 80 pints of blood within 24 hours.

I thank God for allowing this blessing to be returned to the Guajardo and Mechell family with the help of our community and surrounding areas.

What a divine appointment this turned out to be.

Thank you, Jesus, for your perfect timing.
