King Ranch Institute to host Equine Management Lectureship Dec. 14-17

The King Ranch Institute for Ranch Management at Texas A&M University- Kingsville will host its first Richard Mifflin Kleberg Jr. Family Lectureship on Equine Management Monday through Thursday, Dec. 14- 17. The meetings will be held on campus at the Caesar Kleberg Wildlife Center and the labs will be held at the J.K. Northway Exposition Center. Transportation will be provided between the two locations.

The goals of the lectureship are to introduce issues related to reproduction, infertility, colic, obesity and nutrition; present information on parasite control, vaccinations and viral disease of horses; discuss insurance concerns; and participate in handson labs involving dentistry, laminitis, emergency care, nutrition, injections and anatomy.

Speakers include B.F. Yates, member of the American Quarter Horse Association Hall of Fame; Dr. Dennis Sigler, Texas A&M University; Dr. Bill Moyer, Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine; Dr. Cory Reng, Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture; Jim Jennings, American Quarter Horse Association, retired; Dr. Don Topliff, West Texas A&M University; Dr. Frank “Bimbo” Welker, The Ohio State University; Dr. Glen Blodgett, 6666 Ranch; Dr. Ben Espy, DVM, DACT; and Danyelle Campbell, championship barrel racer.
