Guadalupe Mendoza announces candidacy for County Court at Law
Guadalupe Mendoza Guadalupe “Lupita” Mendoza will run for the position of judge of the County Court at Law held by Martin J. Chiuminatto Jr. who has served as judge for more than 24 years.
Mendoza who was born and raised in Kingsville and attended public schools here.
She graduated with honors from Texas A&I University in 1992 with a degree in political science and a minor in sociology.
Mendoza graduated in 1995 with a Doctorate of Jurisprudence from St. Mary’s Law School in San Antonio.
She was a secretary for the late Irma Rangel from 1980 until her enrollment at St. Mary’s Law School in 1992.
In addition to her duties for Rangel’s law office, she was also the legislative aid for Rangel’s district as state representative.
Mendoza said she credits Rangel for pushing her to pursue her education and additionally credits Rangel for her success in the legal field.
Mendoza has been in private practice in Kleberg County since 1995 with her practice primarily focused in the area of family law. She is a member of the Kleberg- Kenedy Bar Association, Coastal Bend Women’s Law Association, Jim Wells Bar Association, State Bar of Texas, State Bar College – Family Law Section.
In addition, she is a certified Attorney Ad Litem.
“The position of judge of the County Court at Law requires discipline and a strong work ethic to move an increasingly growing docket which ensures that the citizens have their day in court,” Mendoza said.
“Judge Chiuminatto has exemplified a strong work ethic in the way he has run his court on a day-to-day basis and the fairness that he brought to the bench. I want to continue that same dedication by providing fairness, justice, and a strong work ethic to the position which enabled a single mother to raise five children and obtain her education,” Mendozas said. Mendoza has five children and twelve grandchildren.
