FLAIR Department silent auction, lunch planned

The FLAIR Department of the Woman’s Club of Kingsville will conduct their annual silent auction and lunch on Nov. 16 at the Helen Kleberg Community Center at 4th and Yoakum Streets.

The lunch will begin at 11:30 a.m. and the silent auction will be open from 11:30 a.m. until 12:45 p.m.

Each FLAIR member donates an item to the auction.

This year the items include purses, hand crafted jewelry, gift baskets, homemade sweet jalapeno pickles, plants, home decorations, Christmas items and a painting by local artist Peggy Westbrook.

The lunch menu will feature chicken and wild rice casserole, winter salad, and a variety of home-made desserts such as pumpkin crunch and banana pudding.

Tickets are $8 and may be obtained from any FLAIR member or by calling one of the event chairmen, Eleanor McCusker, 592-4691, or Kay Roscoe, 592-7435.

All proceeds will be donated to various FLAIR projects.

This year on the local level they include Relay For Life, PDAP, Halo Flight, Robert J. Kleberg Public Library, Kleberg County Adult Literacy Council, and the blue fire plug reflectors.

National projects include CARE, UNICEF, Operation Smile, Support Our Troops and the Mount Vernon Historical Society.
