2 nabbed in robbery caper here

Quick police action and good witness information have resulted in the arrest of two Kingsville men inconnection with a robbery here.

On Thursday, Kingsville Police officers were dispatched to a robbery call at the Direct General Insurance in the 900 block of 14th Street.

Police learned the business had just been robbed by two men.

Witnesses saw the men leaving in a black and white vehicle, according to police reports

A patrol officer saw the vehicle on West Ailsie Avenue and a pursuit ensued.

The vehicle continued to the south alley of 400 W. King Ave., where the two men jumped out and ran in opposite directions, accoding to police.

The driver ran into a nearby relative’s house and changed clothes, attempting to fool the pursuing officer. He was taken into custody without incident. The passenger was caught in the 100 block of North Third Street by responding officers, according to police reports.

Sherrick Adair, 21, was charged with robbery, with a $50,000 bond, and evading arrest by vehicle, with a $10,000 bond. He also had two outstanding warrants for burglary of habitation, also with a bond of $50,000, and aggravated kidnapping, with a $50,000 bond.

Gerald Clack, 35, was charged with the robbery and bond was set at $50,000. He also had a parole warrant oustanding on a previous conviction of possession of cocaine.

The business was robbed of over $400. No weapons were used but the lone female employee was assaulted by both males.

She was unhurt and refused medical attention, police said. Nearly half of the stolen money was recovered.

According to police reports, clack confessed and implicated Adair. The robbery was captured by the surveillance video inside the business.
