Lady Badgers varsity volleyball team losses heartbreaker to Industrial 3-2

The Lady Badgers varsity volleyball team lost a heartbreaker in the second round of the playoffs to Industrial this past Thursday in Sinton.

Bishop started strong winning the first two games 25- 19 and 25-23 before losing momentum and the match on 15-25, 9-25 and 12-15 in the final three games.

“If you can’t win with talent, try effort…and our girls tried, fought and played their heart out,” Lady Badger Head Coach Flor Pena- Buchanan said.

Leading the Lady Badgers in assists was Tori Geryk with 10, followed by Laura Hernandez with eight.

Kasey Cavazos led Bishop with 20 digs, while Cristina Wilborn added 18 in the match.

Tessa Miller had five blocks on the night and Hernandez had two aces.

Wilborn collected 12 kills with Cavazos adding 10 to the Badger effort.

“We have five returning starters and we will be back!” Pena-Buchanan said.

The Lady Badgers finished the season District and Bi-District champions before bowing out of the playoffs to Industrial in the Area round.
