Texas A&M University-Kingsville will hold noontime services in honor of Veteran’s Day, Wednesday, Nov. 11, featuring Distinguished Alumnus Lieutenant General Ricardo Sanchez (USA Ret)

Services will be held on University Boulevard, in front of the “Leaders of the Pack” javelina statue.

In addition to words from Sanchez, former commander of the coalition forces in Iraq, university president Dr. Steven H. Tallant (LTC, USAF, Ret) will give an address, along with Sgt. David Guzman (USA Ret), a Texas A&M-Kingsville student and representative of the Wounded Warrior Project.

The Wounded Warrior Project seeks to honor and empower wounded warriors by raising awareness and enlisting the public’s aid for the needs of severely injured; helping severely injured service members aid and assist each other; and providing unique, direct programs and services to meet the needs of severely injured service members.

The ceremony timetable is as follows: 12-12:05 p.m., Welcome and Post the Colors 12:05-12:10 p.m., National Anthem and Invocation 12:10-12:15 p.m., Address by Dr. Steven H. Tallant 12:15-12:25 p.m., Address by Lt. Gen. Sanchez 12:25-12:30 p.m., Remarks by Sgt. David Guzman of the Wounded

Warrior Project timetable is as follows: 12:30-12:35 p.m., Playing of Taps 12:35-12:40 p.m., Closing

Sanchez, a native of Rio Grande City, graduated from Texas A&I University in 1973. He was named a Distinguished A&M-Kingsville Alumnus in November 2003 by the Javelina Alumni Association.

He served in Iraq from April 2003 to May 2004 as commander of the U. S. Army’s Corps and coalition forces.
