Arthur V. Newton Arthur V. Newton Arthur V. Newton, 84, of Kingsville, died Oct. 30, 2009, in Kingsville.

He was born on Sept. 16, 1925, in Norwood, Ohio to Norman Arthur Newton and Elise Elizabeth Richards Newton.

Newton, a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, was a Chief Gunner’s Mate 6 for the Navy and retired after 30 years of service.

He was a member of Retama Park Baptist Church, American Legion, Elks Lodge, V.F.W. and Mason.

Survivors include his wife of 10 years, Rosemary “Rose” K. Newton of Kingsville; five sons, Arthur Vernon Newton II, Johnny (Christina) Campos, Roberto DeLeon, and Michael (Rachael) Pena, all of Kingsville, and Mark (Jennifer) Pena of Zapata; three daughters, Rosanna Pena, Isabel (Benjamin) Ovalle and Amanda Pena, all of Kingsville; 28 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation took place Nov. 3 at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary Chapel.

A funeral service was held Nov. 3 at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Ron Earley officiating.

Military honors provided by the Veterans of Kleberg County Military Funeral Detail took place outside of the mortuary at the conclusion of the funeral service.
