Brookshire Foundation helps sponsor KSO children’s concert
The Kingsville Symphony Orchestra Board has announced that the B.C. and Addie Brookshire Foundation will be one of the sponsors for the second annual Children’s Concert.
Part of its community outreach program, supported by many patrons, the concert will be held on Friday, Nov. 20, at 10 a.m. in Jones Auditorium on the Texas A&M University-Kingsville campus.
Lee Gwozdz, director of music at the Corpus Christi Cathedral, will be the guest conductor.
The concert will be attended by public and private primary school students from Kingsville, Ricardo, Riviera, Sarita, and Driscoll. Last year’s concert was received by a packed house with great appreciation.
This year’s theme is “Music: Mission Possible.” A variety of orchestral music appropriate to the them will be presented to the students, including such unusual choices as film and television music alongside classics by Bach, Bizet, and Saint-Saens.
KSO Board Vice President Therese Crocker sums up, “The program is designed to offer an engaging and exhilarating venue that enables area students to delve into the world of live performance in classical and modern music.”
She continues, “Hopefully, this event will inspire and create future musicians and a love for the symphony experience.”
