Weekend Sports Notes–
7th and 8th grade football
Memorial Middle School’s seventh grade A & B football teams faced Beeville this past Tuesday.
The Brahma 7B team lost 26-0 and the 7A team lost 24-18. Memorial’s Jordan Garcia threw a 40-yard touchdown pass to Tristan Trevino. Tyrick Bell scored touchdowns on runs of 32 and 23 yards.
Andre Wilson scored on a 34-yard run to give Memorial’s eighth grade B team a 6-0 victory over the Trojans. Coach Dino Gutierrez applauded the 8B defense for shutting out Beeville.
The Brahma 8A team bested Beeville 28-14. Eric Perez caught a 30-yard scoring pass from Erik Garza. Beto Medrano scored on running plays of 25 and 20 yards. David Cavazos reached the end zone on a 36-yard run.
Memorial’s 8A defense was a nonstop nightmare for the Trojans. Defensive standouts were Kamar Shelton (6 sacks), Michael Rodriquez (4 sacks), De’Andre Bergen (3 sacks) and Malcolm Holliday (3 sacks).
Memorial’s seventh grade A & B football teams host Calallen on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. Memorial’s eighth grade A & B football teams visit Calallen at 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
Lady Seahawks volleyball
Riviera-Kaufer High School’s varsity volleyball team improved its District 32-2A record to 7-3 after the Lady Seahawks raced back from almost certain defeat and bested Hebbronville in five games this past Tuesday.
The Lady water-birds lost Games One (23-25) and Two (21-25) before rallying back to take the next three matches (25-23, 25-13 & 15-9). Tina Gomez had 20 digs, 16 assists, four kills and three aces. Sharla Irby tallied 13 digs, nine kills, four aces and two assists.
Lauren Romero notched 15 digs, 10 kills, six blocks and three assists.
Nicole Falcon amassed 20 assists, 11 kills, 10 digs and four aces. Rachel Robinson collected 32 digs, five kills and two aces. Jessica Yaklin had five digs, three kills and two blocks.
Clarissa Arguijo contributed 15 digs. Carson Alsop contributed 10 digs.

Riviera-Kaufer High School’s varsity football team visits Hebbronville at 7:30 p.m. Santa Gertrudis Kingsville Academy High School’s varsity football team visits Santa Maria at 7:30 p.m.
Bishop High School’s varsity football team hosts Santa Rosa during parent’s night at 7:30 p.m. H.M. King High School’s varsity football team hosts Calallen during parent’s night at 7:30 p.m.
Volleyball
Santa Gertrudis Kingsville Academy High School’s varsity, junior varsity and freshman volleyball teams visit George West at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
H.M. King High School’s varsity, junior varsity and freshman volleyball teams host Flour Bluff at 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
Memorial Middle School’s 7A, 7B, 8A & 8B volleyball teams host Tuloso-Midway at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Monday.
Riviera-Kaufer High School’s varsity, junior varsity and freshman volleyball teams visit Bishop at 5 p.m. on Tuesday.
Cross country
Riviera-Kaufer High School’s cross country team will host the District 32-2A meet on Monday. The junior highs start at 4 p.m.
H.M. King High School’s cross country team competes in the District 31-4A meet this Saturday at West Guth Park. Memorial Middle School’s cross country team runs in their district meet on Thursday.
Non-varsity football
Riviera-Kaufer High School’s junior varsity football team hosts Hebbronville at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
De la Paz Middle School’s seventh and eight grade football teams host Hebbronville at 5 p.m.
H.M. King High School’s junior varsity and freshman football teams visit Calallen at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Thursday.
Bishop High School’s junior varsity football team visits Santa Rosa at 6 p.m. on Thursday. Luehrs Junior High’s seventh and eighth grade football teams host Ricardo at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Thursday.
Tennis
H.M. King High School’s junior varsity and freshman tennis teams compete at Alice at 9 a.m. on Saturday.
Memorial Middle School’s tennis team visits Alice for a match at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
