Letter to the Editor
In response to the Letter to the Editor dated Oct. 11, I must say the following:
Before we run around pointing fingers and making accusations that could ruin a man’s life, let’s get all the facts first please.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe that in this great country of ours, you are innocent until proven guilty.
I am curious if the people in the community, who have already found the superintendant in Riviera guilty of putting this “Special Ed” student in a headlock, actually witnessed this atrocity?
They did not. I know this because I was there.
I saw this child yelling unspeakable obscenities at the superintendent when told to please get back in his office.
When out of my sight, they were in direct view of my coworker who was sitting right outside the front doors of the school.
There was absolutely no “headlock” or any physical contact for that matter.
So, before we slam the jailhouse door and throw away the keys, let’s have some facts first!
I am tired of hearing about an assault that never happened, and perhaps the reason there has been no discussion at the school board meeting, is simply that there needs to be no further discussion.
Maybe we should focus on teaching our children about respect instead of focusing all this negative attention on something that never happened.
Anyone in a position of authority is subject to this kind of bogus accusation, and it sickens me that nobody is looking for the truth.
If you are unhappy with the job this man is doing, then by all means voice your opinion in the proper forum.
But, the defamation of a man’s character based solely on a lie is unbelievable to me.
In closing, I would just like to say kudos to the school board and committee members who recommended the standardized dress code.
These are not uniforms and every parent I have spoken with saved an average of $200 per child shopping for school clothes this year!
Let’s pick our battles please.
Thank you Elaine Jameson (parent)
