BUS SAFETY AWARENESS — The Kingsville Independent School District is joining school districts from around the nation in observance of National Bus Safety Week from Oct. 19 through Oct. 23. KISD reminds motorists that state law requires all vehicles to stop for loading and unloading of a school bus when its flasher lights are blinking. As part of the observance, the Kingsville Police Department and the Kleberg County Sheriff’s Department will have uniformed officers on buses and they will be on the lookout for motorists who fail to stop when school buses are loading or unloading. KISD Transportation Department officials said they want to express their gratitude to Sheriff Ed Mata and Police Chief Rick Torres for making the event successful. They also ask the public to observe National Bus Safety Week by driving safely around all school buses. Pictured are the KISD bus drivers and Transportation Department staff members.
