Let’s give the Mighty Brahmas real support

I am writing to you in concern of the support of our football team receives from all parties directly and indirectly involved. This includes, the H.M. King faculty, the KISD board members, the student body and the community.

I am a proud parent who has a son that plays his heart out on and off the football field. Our family supports and attends 100 percent of the games. I am not a H.M. King graduate. However, I am aware of at least one tradition. At the end of a football game, if the team wins or loses, the Brahma Band plays the H.M. King fight song and everyone is waving their Brahma fingers — well, everybody that’s still there.

It’s disheartening to see how much effort and practice our athletes (coaches included) endure, only to receive inconsistent cheers from the crowd.

The players look to us for support in the stands. These players are our sons, nephews, grandsons, and family friends. I ask all of Kingsville, where is your pride?

How do you let someone know they are doing a good job? Stop yelling and blaming the players and the coach when plays don’t go as planned.

Coach Hrncir has been awesome to our sons. This is the first time I have heard my son come home and tell me that he is required to go to after-school tutoring so he stays on top of his studies and maintains his GPA.

The new superintendent, Emilio Castro, has made a commitment to provide better service to our children of KISD. So, let’s give the same back as a community and show some appreciation by cheering positively and make a lasting impact on our athletes ... our children.
