with Joyce Mooney’s 89th birthday

The University Women’s Club (UWC) met on Saturday, Sept. 26 at the TAMUK Founders’ Room for their annual Fall luncheon and business meeting.

Highlights included celebrating long-time member Joyce Mooney’s 89th birthday and hearing Master Gardner Sandy Chisholm’s informative presentation.

A delicious meal of chicken spaghetti and trimmings was enjoyed by members. Desserts were provided by committee members: Sara Scherpereel, Marilyn Kowalik, Teresa Juarez, Sue Bradley, Sandy Chisholm, and Diane McLauchlan.

Teresa Juarez, Scholarship Chairperson, reported on two $1,000 scholarship recipients for 2009-2010.

Scholarships are made possible by the sale of TAMUK logo afghans. Afghans can be purchased by calling Adline Sedory, 595-1573.

Under new business, members voted to amend the constitution by adding the office of President-elect.

The UWC hosted their Annual Fall Welcome Reception on Wednesday, Oct. 7 at the New Engineering Complex for all faculty members and administration staff.

The UWC Book Club will meet Thursday, Oct. 8, at 7:30 p.m.
