The Kleberg County Adult Literacy Council received a $5000 grant from the Coastal Bend Community Foundation to purchase much needed computer hardware and software.
“We are so happy to be back in the 21st Century!” Executive Director of KCALC Carla Meyer, said.
“KCALC had a computer that was in dire need of replacement. Let’s just say it was a teenager. The Coastal Bend Community Foundation made it possible for KCALC to purchase a Dell laptop, projector, external monitor, external hard drive, replicator, and accessories.
“In addition, we were able to purchase computerized assessment tools for our instructors to use, as well as upgrade our database.
“All of this will make KCALC more efficient, and will allow us to provide more accurate outcomes, as well as give my instructors a better idea of how to better service our adult learners.”
The Coastal Bend Community Foundation is a non-profit organization that services a seven county region.
CBCF was formed in 1981, and has allocated over $60 million to charitable organizations in its 27-year history.
