New assistant athletic director named at TAMUK

Miguel Paredes Miguel Paredes Miguel Paredes is the newest member of the Texas A&M-Kingsville athletic department joining the staff as the Assistant Athletic Director in charge of Academic Outreach, Champs Life Skills and Community Engagement.

Paredes, a native of Brownsville, Texas, comes to the Javelina family from Central Methodist University where he was serving in a variety of roles. He was an assistant to both the athletic department and student affairs. He worked as the transfer coordinator for two years and was also an instructor in Spanish. Additionally, he was an assistant football coach and recruiting coordinator for the Eagles.

“Miguel brings a diverse educational administrative background from academics to recruiting and his professional experiences have prepared him for this position,” said Javelina Director of Athletics Ken Oliver. “We are very fortunate to have him as a member of our athletic department.”

Prior to working at Central Methodist, Paredes spent three years as a defensive assistant at Graceland University. He was a member of the coaching staff that led the YellowJackets to the 2005 Heart of American Athletic Conference championship. He played defensive back and special teams for Graceland from 2000-03. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in physical education and health and earned his master’s of education at Central Methodist.
