Free breast and prostate cancer screening Saturday

Christus Spohn Kleberg Hospital will host a free breast and prostate cancer screening event Saturday from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the H-E-B Center, located on the hospital’s grounds.

The event will be the community’s first opportunity to benefit from the latest in breast cancer screening technology, as the hopsital unveils it’s state of the art digital mammography equipment to the public. The prostate screening will be a blood test. The tests are being made available through the generosity of local philanthropist Frank Horlock, Christus Spohn Hospital Kleberg, and the Christus Spohn Health System Foundation. The cancer screening will also feature informational booths, literature and a lecture from cancer specialist Dr. Gerard Voorhees.

The screenings are free to those 18 years of age or over on a first come, first served basis. Participants may have the results of the screenings sent to a physician of their choice or consult with one of several physicians who will be on hand that day. Lisa and Jerry Bockholt are cochairs of the event For more information call (361) 595- 9806.
