King Ranch annual Ranch Hand Breakfast organizers, La Posada de Kingsville, and the Kingsville Historic Downtown District Association are teaming up once again to enhance the Christmas holiday experience for visitors to the downtown area.

KHDDA is a non-profit organization whose mission includes improving the appearance and perception of the downtown area.

Similarly, one of La Posada’s early goals was also to promote the downtown area and to strengthen the quality of life for Kingsville residents, particularly children.

The Ranch Hand Breakfast has provided a part of La Posada’s funding since its inception.

The breakfast, which kicks off the annual La Posada de Kingsville — A Celebration of Lights, will be held from 7 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 21 at King Ranch.

The three groups have created a multi-year project to enhance the downtown area aimed at developing a festive atmosphere for residents and visitors, while improving the economy of downtown by attracting shoppers.

The first phase was last year’s downtown holiday lighting project.

For this year’s project, La Posada will donate eight large planters for the 200-300 blocks of Kleberg Avenue and provide an annual holiday poinsettia planting.

In addition, La Posada will be purchasing wrought iron park benches for downtown.

La Posada is also pleased to announce the creation of a formal governing board to support the celebration.

This all-volunteer board will initially be comprised of the following members: Becky Huss, Lucy Jaimes, Daniel Morales, and Pam Wilson.

A list of the 2009 La Posada events, times, and locations will be available Oct. 1.

For more information, contact Becky Huss at 592- 3989.
