The Kingsville Tri-City Retired Teachers Association led by Aurora A. Garza, President, will kick off their new 2009-2010 year with a noon luncheon on Monday, Sept. 21, 2009.

The luncheon honors recent retirees and annual scholarship recipients.

It will be held at the First Christian Church on Ailsie and Brahma Blvd. with guest speaker Margaret DeVille, District II President.

The scholarship recipients for 2009 are: Bishop High School graduate, Kastaylia Garcia and H.M. King High School graduate, Cody Folmar.

Checks for $1000 will be presented to each of the recipients at the luncheon by Roy Eshom and Pete De La Garza.

The recipients were selected by the KTC-RTA Scholarship Committee composed of Gino Castillo, Kleberg County Judge Pete De La Garza, Roy Eshom, Dr. Julia A. Smith, and Ann Brooks, Chairperson.

For the coming year, one member will be rotating off from the committee as called for by the guidelines, and two new members will come on board: Norma Olivares and Amparo Quintanilla, immediate KTC-RTA past president.

Besides generating funds for the two annual scholarships, this year will prove to be an exciting one with Books for Children as another major project for the retirees.
