2012 livestock show comes to a close

Organizers of the Kleberg- Kenedy County Junior Livestock Show said this year’s event was a success, with preliminary totals showing the grand and reserve champions earning more than $100,000 for their projects.

Youth projects, ranging from homemaking to steers, earned about $104,000 during Saturday’s auction sale, KKCLS representative Darrell Lynn Pray said Monday.

Christus Spohn Hospital Kleberg is one step closer to building a new emergency room, after a local bank pledged $150,000 in support Tuesday.

Officials with Kleberg Bank presented the hospital with a ceremonial $150,000 check Tuesday, with the funding to be used toward a proposed $4 million expansion to the hospital’s emergency room.
