Cantu adds another GG state title to mantelpiece

      Oscar Cantu disposed of three opponents on his way to securing his second consecutive open class state title in the 114 pound senior division of the Golden Gloves tournament in Fort Worth this past weekend. Cantu first won a decision over Ray Ximenez of Dallas on Thursday.

      LADY BRAHMAS MAKE ALL-DISTRICT BASKETBALL A pair of H.M. King High School varsity girls basketball players were recently named to the All-District 31-4A team. Jasmine Richardson was selected for the first alldistrict team and Kaylie Hahn received Honorable Mention.

      H.M. King High School’s boys and girls track teams competed at the Hub City Relays in Alice this past Saturday with many of their athletes placing in the top ten in various events. David Lewis won the varsity boys Shot Put competition.

Badgers keep championship trophy at home

      The No. 1 ranked Bishop Badgers (7-1-1) varsity baseball team hosted its first annual baseball tournament this past weekend with Beeville, Ben Bolt, Bishop, Karnes City, Orange Grove and Riviera participating. Thirteen games were played throughout the weekend, Bishop coming out victorious with an undefeated record in the tournament to keep the first place trophy at home.
